Version 8.2.2 corrects a couple of minor issues involving sleep mode and unlocking the screen.
1. Corrected Computer Sleep While Capturing.
While capturing, not all sleep methods were prevented on all supported Operating Systems.
2. Corrected System Error Code 5 when unlocking the screen.
When unlocking the screen, a system error could occur indicating 'Access Denied' to a system resource (Error:5). This error was related to availability of the Mouse device and was dependent upon system timing involving USB device availability.

Version 8.2 introduced a configuration error affecting DigiView Model DV3400. When the error occurred, symptoms included clearing the hardware buffer and failing to add additional data after detecting the Trigger condition. Version 8.2.1 corrects this configuration issue.

TechTools opened its doors in 1991 with the introduction of its first product, an EPROM Emulator called EconoROM™. The model EE01 was the first model in this series. It allowed users to quickly download and test new code images without having to erase and reprogram EPROMs.
Throughout 1992, TechTools expanded the EconoROM™ series to include support for 32K-4M memory emulation in x8 and x16 configurations.
In 1993, TechTools introduced the FlexROM™ series of memory emulators. This series added target side write capability, allowing emulation of SRAMS and FLASH devices in addition to EPROMs. Hardware arbitration support allowed dual-port access to the memory if the target had request/grant type signals. A single byte memory-mapped hardware register enabled bi-directional communications between target firmware and host software without the need for arbitration support. This permitted use of software/firmware style debuggers without the need of a dedicated debug comm port.
In June 1994, TechTools introduced Memory-Socket Debugging with the release of the UniROM™ series of memory emulators. UniROM™ plugged into your target's memory socket and emulated its memory, allowing for rapid testing of new firmware images. In addition to basic memory emulation, UniROM™ added full LIVE, simultaneous access to its memory by the target and the host. This feature is exploited to implement a 'Virtual UART', a memory-based communications path between software running on the PC and firmware running on the target. Libraries were included to facilitate integration with your own code or popular debuggers. Now you could debug with simple print statements or a full blown debugger, even if your target didn't have a spare communications port.
That same month, we released the URCOM™ option board for UniROM™ which allowed for full debugging even when the target could not write to its memory space. With URCOM™ the target could use a series of READS to send and receive data rather than using a WRITE.
In July 1996, we published an article in Circuit Cellar Ink entitled 'Alternative Debugging Techniques'. This article discusses various non-traditional debugging techniques including the use of LIVE memory access and Virtual UARTs as featured in UniROM™
In October 1996 we reduced the load on our BBS and registered the Domain Name 'Tech-Tools.com', joining the unfiltered World Wide Web. The WEB was just begining to gain wide-spread use among technical users venturing beyond the confines of filtered content providers such as Compuserve and America Online (now known as AOL).
In April 1997, we expanded our product line to include PICmicro™ development tools. New products included the ClearView™ Mathias - a real-time In-Circuit Emulator (ICE), CVASM™ - an assembler, and TDE™ - a fully integrated development and debugging environment.
In February 1999 we expanded our PICmicro™ development tool line with the addition of PICWriter™, a programmer for the PICmicro™ microcontrollers.
In January 2002, We released an improved programmer for the PICmicro™ series of microcontrollers. The new QuickWriter™ offered several improvements over the older PICWriter™. QuickWriter™ supported in-circuit programming as well as single and gang socket programming.
In June 2003, we introduced DigiView™, a new product line of logic analyzers. The first model in the DigiView™ series was the DV1-100 which used the USB interface for power and portability. The USB interface allowed us to to use the full power of the PC for data processing, display and user interaction. This design greatly reduced costs and increased usability over conventional logic analyzers. All data is captured, compressed and stored into a local hardware buffer in real-time. When the buffer is full, it is forwarded to the PC for processing and display, ensuring full speed captures regardless of the PC's speed or load. With a hardware compression ratio of up to 256,000:1, resolution vs. Depth tradeoffs were practically eliminated. Internal hardware triggers included an Edge trigger for each channel and a full Pattern Match circuit.
In March 2006, we added Serial Protocol Analysis to our DigiView™ line of logic analyzers. Now you could see I2C, Async, Sync, and SPI signals decoded in context with other timing signals. You could even see the full resolution bit timing of the underlying signals to each protocol. Version 3 of the software added many other new features as well and was released as a free download for all DigiView™ users.
In May 2007 we expanded our DigiView™ logic analyzer line with the release of model DV3400. It featured 36 Channel captures at 200 Msps and 18 Channel captures at 400 Msps. It also introduced advanced hardware trigger circuitry with cascadable sequencers, nine match types with duration settings and full sum-of-products qualification array, multiple 'on the fly' automatic compression techniques, adjustable thresholds with a +-6 volt range, extra ESD protection, auto resetting ground current protection up to +- 12 volts and +- 50 volt channel durability. Utililizing an external power supply, the DV3400 could continue operation when the PC was powered off.
In February 2010 we released a new DigiView™ model - DV3100. The DV3100 replaced our popular DV1-100 model. The DV3100 added more memory, a variable threshold circuit and all of the hardware trigger circuitry from the DV3400 model. It also added additional compression techniques and even higher over/under voltage tolerances than the DV1-100, but sold for the same price.
In January 2012, we expanded our DigiView™ logic analyzer line with the DV3200 model. The DV3200 shared all of the specificiations with the DV3100 except it captured at twice the rate - 200Msps.
In March 2014 we released a free upgrade to all DV3100 and DV3200 models, doubling their capture rate when using half the number of channels. The DV3100 could now capture at 200Msps when using 9 channels and the DV3200 could now capture at 400Msps when using 9 channels. We also released our Plug-in Development Kit (PDK) which provided an easy mechanism for adding custom protocol decoding without needing to be a code expert. The PDK allowed several levels of customization from a simple enhancement of our existing protocols to full unique protocols. Plug-ins were completely integrated to take advantage of DigiView's advanced software features such as sequential searches and exporting without any special coding required by the Plug-in author.
Also in March 2014 we expanded our DigiView™ logic analyzer product line with 3 new models. These models feature the same advanced trigger circuits, variable threshold circuits, robust channel inputs and other features as the DV3100 and DV3200 models. They differ only in the number of channels and sample speeds.
In September 2015 we released a major software update for our DigiView™ line of Logic anlayzers for free. Version 8 of the software included many new user features and improvments such as instant measuring, built-in flexible signal plotting capability, an entended set of measurements unique to each signal type, vastly improved export speeds (10x - 50x), auto exporting of the entire capture history, localized menu and tool bars for each feature window, creation of independent waveform windows for full screen display on additional monitors. The improvements and additions were the biggest, single release improvement since we first introduced the DigiView product line. In October 2015 we released a new DigiView™ model - DV3500. The DV3500 replaces our aging (2007) DV3400 model. We doubled the memory, reduced power consumption, and increased the sample rate by 25% but kept the price the same. The DigiView™ software has been updated to fully support the DV3500. All existing projects including custom plug-ins and protocol decoders will work on the new model.

DigiView Version 8.2 provides additional help for first time users and several improvements for all users.
For the new user, a slideshow with basic mouse and keyboard hints will display on opening a project. For current users, we have relocated the position of a few common items and implemented a better workflow for Example Projects, Converting Projects, Creating New Projects and saving projects. We also added a few new features involving snapping signals and markers.

DigiView Version 8.1 adds additional features, enhancements and a few corrections. The most notable correction fixed scaling and positioning of some windows when running on the Windows 7 operating system with system fonts set to 125%.
Besides incorporating the CAN BUS and I2S decoders as built-in signals that can be customized with our PDK, enhancements include the ability to control visibility of Instant Measurements, hide ignored waveforms and a new feature of choosing the time source of values displayed in the Marker Column.

DigiView Version 8.0.2 corrects the following errors in DigiView 8 release:
1. Corrected Capture Corruption error.
Version 8.0 introduced an error that affected Models DV3109 and DV3409. The captures from these two models could have experienced time or data corruption.
2. Corrected Match Duration Checkbox in the Match Editor.
The Checkbox in the Match Editor to enable/ disable duration was being ignored and always displayed as unchecked but the duration was always implemented. The checkbox will now properly reflect the enabled state of the duration qualifier.
3. Corrected Trigger Connection Delete.
Version 8.0 added a new feature to delete trigger connections by using a mouse Double-Click. This function was being ignored while any item in the configuration was 'Locked' (selected with a RED border).
4. Corrected Trigger Match Configuration error while Editing a Signal's Name.
When editing the name of a signal, Trigger Match configurations that used the signal would remove it from the configuration, requiring the user to re-configure the match before the next RUN function.

New Model DV3500 is a Professional USB Logic Analyzer and Protocol Analyzer with two sample modes: 250 Msps/36 Channels or 500 Msps/18 Channels. DV3500 offers more features and a better price than traditional stand-alone units.
New improvements include:

• Fanless Operation.
• Double the memory of DV3400.
• 500 Msps sample rate (25% faster than DV3400).
• Lower power consumption. Has less than half the power requirement of DV3400.
• New Auto Resetting Power circuitry protects from AC and overvoltage on power input.
• Uses a common input voltage of 5VDC instead of the 12VAC used by DV3400.

Having double the memory and a 25% faster sample rate than model DV3400 and selling for the same price, makes the new DV3500 an ideal replacement.
